Hey everybody, I wanted to make a quick thread on etiquette from varying areas on things I've observed lately. This goes for game servers, Teamspeak, pretty much everything. Just some quick, short notes and on a couple particular notes I'd like to propose an April Discussion regarding them, @King8Bit, if you'd like to take a look and start a thread at some point regarding it.
- Game Servers
- Here is where I mainly would like to propose a discussion this month as it seems to be a huge deal. Regarding the clan charter, members/players are to approach (in case of a situation) admins and the admins should attempt to resolve the issue. Seeing as there have been slight changes in structure, it should likely be re-worded to include admins then go to Specialists if they can't solve it, Specialists to Council Members, Council Members to Triumvirate.
- Issue is this doesn't very much get followed. People immediately want to go to the highest authority/most active in any situation. The Tekkit structure is a really solid one that should really be used as much as possible, tickets should ALWAYS be submitted and try to get people OTHER than the server owner/Specialist, Gorian, to handle them.
- Beyond that, be considerate of others on the server - obviously we have both our general rules and any server-specific rules to follow, but some games (ex: Tekkit) it may be inconsiderate to do things without taking a vote. Example would be starting a village in spawn, some would be against it.
- Teamspeak
- All clan members must, and are expected to, wear their tags in {PR} servers - including TS. As I have noticed some people without tags lately, I will be working to update messages to warn people about it as obvious as I can - no tags means no perms, no tags is a slap in the face to all of those that work to make {PR} a decent community. I hope to address this in a discussion as well.
- I would like to see people making sub-channels in the appropriate category more often (Chat/Game Temp Channels spacers, for example) as it is a bit annoying moving them there. If it doesn't let you (or you have other issues with TS), make a topic in this section.
- More appropriately named channels, please... I understand switching from Perm to Temp channels is a bit aggravating, and I'll let some slight deviations from names go because it's no big deal, but crossing the border into vulgar/inappropriate names is not something I'll ignore, and making it a habit isn't a good idea.
- Some other simple ones - use chat channels if you are okay with chatting while in-game, if you aren't and don't want randoms in there and want on-topic discussions, use in-game. Meaning, stay out of in-game channels if you aren't playing that game or aren't intending to. Don't go in there to annoy people. Some people might not like excessive chatter in game channels either, so if you're going to be talking a lot with somebody, move it elsewhere - we don't need play-by-plays, keep unnecessary chatter to a minimum.
- Be aware of 'hotmicing' as CZ would call it - if your mic is picking up keyboard clicks, mouse clicks, things like that. If somebody complains to you about it, especially a Council Member, it doesn't mean joke about it - it means fix it before I fix it for you.
Overall, just be mindful of how you present yourself everywhere. Game servers, streams, recordings - anywhere and everywhere.
