There has been a ton of stuff happening in Guild Wars 2 recently, so I thought I would give a general wrap up and update of what is to come for those of you who may have been away for a while. The WvW Season 2 tournament ended last month. If you completed the tournament meta achievement (at least 10 of the tournament achievements) you are awarded a chest of tickets used to spend on awards. For those of you on Dragonbrand, we finished in 6th place overall (last place in gold league...but hey, its gold league - we fought well). For 6th place, we were awarded 275 tickets to spend on awards. Tickets will be spendable at the Battle Historian NPC, at any of the borderlands. Unfortunately we fell 25 tickets short of getting the awesome Misforged Hero weapon skins, so we will either have to spend them on other things, buy a normal Hero skin and wait until next season to upgrade it to a Misforged Hero skin in the mystic forge, or save all our tickets until Season 3. See whats available for purchase HERE. "Mistforged Hero’s weapons can either be purchased directly for tickets or crafted in the Mystic Forge with one Hero’s Weapon, one Gift of Heroes, four bottles of Elonian Wine, and ten Piles of Crystalline Dust. This is to allow players who don’t have enough tickets after 1 tournament to purchase a weapon and upgrade it after a subsequent tournament." There has been a huge uproar on their forums and Reddit for many reasons. For one, the required Gift of Heroes was originally listed as costing | 200 tickets | 250 badges of honor |. This caused confusion everywhere because no one knew if it would cost 200 tickets AND 250 badges of honor, or one or the other. It has been confirmed that it will only cost 200 tickets. This means a Misforged Heroes weapon costs 300 tickets, or you can get a Heroes weapon for 100, a Gift of Heroes for 200, and the other mats for a ton of gold.....all for the same thing. 300 tickets or 300 tickets plus a ton of gold and waiting until after next season.... is this? The second uproar is an issue with the architect meant to be awarding players their tickets for getting the meta achievement. Hundreds of players were not rewarded their tickets after they were sent out and some did get them (luckily I received my chest). It is suggested to try traveling to all the borderlands and Edge of the Mist if you did not get your chest with logging in. Anets response? Lock out ticket redemption and make everyone wait until they find and fix the bug and all players have received their tickets. It is important to note that there are also hundreds who have not received their tickets from the Season 1 tournament, and yet they did not care to fix the issue and proceeded to host a second tournament. Now they have 2 seasons of tickets to sort out and an entire community in outrage. View one of the many forums of outrage HERE View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5QGkOGZubQ So one of the reasons they were ignoring the broken WvW tournament rewards system is because on May 15th they launched the game in China. So that's good.....I guess? Read the official announcement HERE. Some interesting things have been found upon the Chinese release. There has been a "VIP Pass" type system added to the game for them, raising rumors of it maybe coming to the NA and EU versions and possibly be a required purchase to do the Living Story Season 2 content. Read THIS to read the full post on the rumor. On May 20th, they released the latest content, "Festival of the Four Winds," to keep us busy between the tournament and next living story. You may notice a new setup in Lions Arch as it is being rebuilt. The patch brought several new mini games and gauntlet style events. By participating in the events, you get tokens to spend on past Season 1's Living Story awards. Nothing really to get excited about. There are also several new items in the gem store. Release Page Update Notes Now we wait for the Living Story Season 2 to start on July 1st. No information has been released yet, so we will just have to wait another month and see where the next story leads us. Official Announcement That is all for now. I will give an update upon the release of tickets and any other news I hear.
If they make this "VIP Pass" like I think it will be and it comes to us, I'm done with GW2. Having to buy stuff to be able to do things is against the Guild Wars way. I could understand buying Season 2 Living Story, only if it's going to be a giant expansion with lots of new content, and not more world bosses and random stuff.
I feel the same way. I'm all for a much needed expansion with Season 2 Living Story, new map areas, new WvW maps, bonus armor and weapon skins, and other exclusive content. That is as long as there is actually enough stuff included. But as this rumor suggests, they want to add a subscription which I will never pay a sub for GW2....its what sets it apart and they really don't need it with their current model, they are just being greedy. And if they were to take away features as this rumor suggests and make them only available for subs, I am rage-quiting from Anet forever.
Read the giant wall of text lol. Sorry for the wall but there's a lot to explain. Sent from Tapatalk on Android
If you guys stop playing GW2, might I suggest ArcheAge? View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE40iii5ZkA
Wrong forum broseph. The Living Story Season 2 has been announced with more information and the sub fee/expansion fee rumors have been put to rest, for now. The new living story will be broken down into "episodes" in which you can enter the instance by tracking it on your new "journal" panel. When an episode is released you may play it for free as many times as you'd like until the next episode is released, then you will have to pay 200 gems to unlock and replay past episodes. No more meta achievements to get awards, you will instead be rewarded simply for completing the episode. You may replay the episodes to get extra side achievements on top of it to get extra awards, but there is no overall meta to grind for. The side achievements will be much harder than last season. All content within the story will become permanent. Read the full announcement here https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-story-journal/
I'd rather play for free and let those who missed it to pay only 200 gems to play the old episodes (thats not much at all) than force everyone to pay for the content. So its a win win for everyone. I'm very happy with their solution and the new structure.
